The announcement of competition for the seventh edition of Magma, International short film festival will be published the 15th of February.

And the winner is Mammal, by Astrid Rieger (Germany)

The Lorenzo Vecchio Prize 2007 for the best short film goes to Mammal, by the German director Astrid Rieger
“for the imagination, the ability to invent and the capacity to talk about a delicate topic with lightness”.

The Special Mention for the best narrative short film goes to Contracuerpo, by Eduardo Chapero Jackson (Spain),
“for the power of images and the great originality in telling a difficult and actual topic”.

The Special Mention for the best documentary short film goes to As is their wont, by Galina Adamovich (Belarus)
“for her ability to tell the everyday life of a community with respect and intimacy”.

The Special Mention for the best experimental short film goes to Plac by Ana Husman (Croatia),
“a well known technique, the step one, used to tell a brilliant images tale with a strong innovative spirit”.

The Special Mention for the best animated short film goes to Sold Out, by Marie José van der Linden and Gerrit van Dijk (The Netherlands),
“for the very true story and for the ability to make a portrait of a family and tell us the destiny of a little shop. A private story written with sensibility and ability about one of the most huge changes of our times”.
