Paul Oswald is mighty proud of the bomb shelter in his basement. Built bigger than federal regulations! Something that the gentleman from the Department of Civil Defence is happy to hear and so also assigns Mr. Gehrig, his neighbour, to the shelter. Oswald can’t stand him – the thought of having to put up with Gehrig in his prized bomb shelter in the event of a nuclear war starts to drive him insane and he is determined to fight the evil Department of Civil Defence by all means. In the end he loses everything and dies alone in his beloved bomb shelter. It turns out that Gehrig wouldn’t have shown up anyway as he is moving to Burgundy.
