Virginie Gourmel

Virginie Gourmel was born in the early 1970s in Lyon. After a happy childhood (she modelled as a child for the LB ice cream company) and an equally happy adolescence, for a long time Virginie considered becoming an Olympic Horseball champion. But, since she was pretty single-minded and adored Marilyn Monroe, she enrolled to study cinema at the INSAS, in Brussels. From the directing department, she soon moved to the photography one. After about eight years working as a camera assistant (L’Iceberg, Cages, En territoire Indien, Ta soeur, Nord Plage…), she moved on to more serious things in 2005 and directed her first short film, “Aïe!”. And she is not going to stop there. . “Stagman” is her second short film.
