Eksperimenta is a section of the festival co-organized with the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania and is a meeting point between different experiences at an international level through the selection and promotion of experimental works by artists and videomakers.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. Submission is free of charge.

2. Works completed after 2023 (unpublished or already publicly released) are eligible for selection.

3. Eligible works include single-channel video art, experimental short films, deepfake audiovisual works, and non-fiction works, including digital animation, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes.

4. You may submit one or more works for consideration by sending the link to the email address eksperimenta@magmafestival.org by June 15, 2026, and including in the email your personal information, the list of credits, and the film’s technical specifications.

5. The author assumes full responsibility for the content of their works.

6. The presence of the authors of the selected works is appreciated; however, any travel expenses are the responsibility of the authors themselves.

 

SELECTION

7. The works will be selected by a committee composed of members of the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania and the Scarti Cultural Association.

8. Works submitted for pre-selection will be stored in the association’s archive, available for consultation, for purposes of study, cataloging, submission to other festivals, and the re-presentation of the event or parts thereof in any form, at any time, and in any place, subject to prior notification via email to the contact provided.

9. Selected participants will be notified via email by the end of September 2026 and will be asked to submit a high-definition screening copy, along with other materials useful for the festival.

10. By accepting this call for entries, the authors of the selected short films authorize the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania and the Scarti Association to use the works, or parts thereof, for the purpose of promoting the festival.
